Welcome to the Drug and Alcohol Nurses of Australasia (DANA), the peak nursing organisation in Australasia for nurses, nurse practitioners and midwives with a professional interest in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) issues. DANA also welcomes others who share the aims of DANA, to promote collaborative partnerships that aim to achieve similar goals.
DANA enhances the capacity of nurses, nurse practitioners and midwives to respond effectively to AOD issues in a culturally sensitive manner.
DANA provides a mechanism for professional development, education, mentoring and support for members, aiming for excellence and the ongoing improvement of quality care in all practice contexts.
DANA provides direction to key stakeholders on AOD issues and related policies.
DANA provides consultancy, advice and advocacy to members, nursing organisations and key stakeholders in relation to AOD matters, including promoting the inclusion of AOD issues in core undergraduate curriculum, staff development programs and continuing education, and within postgraduate clinical and research degrees.
